.Hi Steve!Whatīs up??Everything ok??? Hey BSBB, everything is pretty cool here, and you?
.Please give us the whole story from the beginning of Fleshgrind? Ok, here we go. Fleshgrind was formed in March of 1993. Vocalist/guitarist Rich Lipscomb and drummer Dave Barbolla were in a band called Burial(not the popular one), and when that died, they wanted to form a new band. so they tried me out on guitar and Casey Ryba on bass. We then decided on the name Fleshgrind. Our first show was in July of 93. In November of that same year, we entered Wave Digital Studios to record our first demo "Holy Pedophile" with Brian Griffin at the producing helm. After that was released, we played many shows to support that demo. In April of 1995, we recorded our second demo "Sorrow Breeds Hatred(Bleed on Me), this time at Choice Recordings due to Wave Digital's demise, also with Brian Griffin producing. We then played a lot more shows to support that demo. In January of 1996, Fleshgrind saw it's first and only member change thus far. Bassist Casey Ryba decided to leave the band, and he was replaced by our current bass player Ray Vazquez. In the beginning of 1997, Fleshgrind signed with Pulverizer Records. In May of that year, we recorded our debut album "Destined For Defilement" again at Choice Recordings with Brian Griffin. "Destined For Defilement" was released at the end of August of 97, and now we are here.
.Fleshgrind has just signed to Pulverizer Records. Are u satisfied with them???Do u think they are making good promotion and things like that? Yes, so far we have been very satisified with Pulverizer Records, they promote us well. We just need a European label though!
.All your songs dealing with gore and stuff like this. What is your inspiration??Spatter gore horror movies, books or what? The lyrics that I write, I do not consider them to be gore, they are not that explicit, I consider them to be violent, but not gory. All of my lyrics are based on true stories about sex crimes or more often about the Italian Mafia. I am not a big horror/gore fan, it doesn't do anything for me.
.What are your musick influences? My personal influences are Broken Hope, old Hypocrisy, Suffocation, Kiss.
.Letīs talk about your shows!U played many shows with great bands like Mortal Decay,Dying Fetus,Lividity,Internal Bleeding and other. How does your show look like??Many bloody fights till the end and many guts and blood or just pure fuckin musick? Sometimes they get quite violent, we usually get a decent response. Our past few shows have been quite shitty, but you gotta take the good with the bad.
.Tell us something about your new CD "DESTINED FOR DEFILEMENT"!Any musick changes between your demos and the CD? I wouldn't say that there are any drastic changes, just natural progression of brutality. The songs are written and constructed better, they flow more. Better musicianship and production also. I think the cd crushes our demos personally. ī
.Do u or an other member of Fleshgrind have a side project? If not, donīt u have the lust to have one like for example a Noise project or something like that? No, none of us have a side project goin. I would like to have a side project band in the vein of Sacrilege or At The Gates, that swedish style, but it would suck so I don't do it hahaha. Our singer Rich, would like to do a grind band project.
.Ok,what can we expect from Fleshgrind after the CD?Any future plans? Well hopefully we can tour in support "Destined..", we'd love to tour in Europe.Aside form that you can expect another cd that will crush this one. We currently have 2 new songs written, no song titles yet. The songs are in typical Fleshgrind style, brutal and catchy, and faster.
.Here u can give us all your merchandising with prices and so on! Ok, well our cd "Destined For Defilement" is $14 U.S. and $16 elsewhere. Our first 2 demos are still available for $5 each. We have album shirts $15 for ss $20 for LS. IT is the album cover, sleeve prints etc.
.Ok,thanx for the interview!!!Any final words? Thanks a lot for the interview and support BSBB, you rule!! Everyone get in touch, check out out brand of brutality.
